UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:

Our uniform requirements are also the same requirements as for the IBJJF events, with the exception of colours. We accept any uniform colour both for Gi and No-Gi.

Please follow THIS LINK to learn and understand the Uniform Requirements for our events.

WEIGHT (WEIGHT DIVISIONS - CLICK HERE):

All competitors are required to be exactly on, or under, the weight limit of the division they are registered in.

Weights in: The drop-down box are represented as a net with the appropriate Gi or No Gi allowance included. e.g. the 82.3kg Gi weight category means a combined net weight (including Gi) of under 82.3kg.

THERE IS NO WEIGHT ALLOWANCE. For example, if the division is Up to 82.3kg, then a competitor weighing in at 82.4kg would be missing weight.

WARNING: Competitors weighing-in, on competition day, over the limit of the weight category they have registered in, will be automatically disqualified from the competition, with no option to be refunded.

Penalties for Missing Weight:

Missing weight affects our brackets and risks delaying our schedule. It is the responsibility of the competitor/parent to check the competitor list and ensure they're in the correct division. Children who are DQ'd for missing weight, will be helped by our staff but matches are no longer guaranteed for your child.

Please make sure you are registered to the correct weight division.

AGE DIVISIONS & MATCHES DURATION:

CLICK HERE to find your age group and match duration for each age group.

MIXED GENDERS (Kids):

We allow mixed-gender brackets for kids aged 4yo to 9yo (Mighty Mite and Pee Wee).

All ages above that have separate gender brackets.

HYGIENE:

Competitors shall display excellent hygiene standards. Nails should be trimmed and kept short. Long hair should be tied up. Competitors with skin disorders will be referred to the event medical staff to have the final say whether they compete or not. Protectors - there will be no allowances for head/ear protectors, ankle/feet protectors, knee/elbow braces/protectors and no groin guards. Tapes are allowed. No jewellery to be worn and no hairpins.

BRACKETS & DIVISIONS:

BJJAO holds the right to move competitors from the original bracket/division they have registered into another bracket/division.

KIDS BRACKETS:

Competitors are initially grouped strictly by age. If there are not enough competitors of the same age, the competitor will be placed in an age division no greater than 1 year above their own. Divisions can vary based on attendance. For example, Age divisions can be grouped by 1 year: 2005-2006, 2006-2007, 2007-2008, etc.

If there are not enough competitors of the same division, the competitor could be placed in a belt division no greater than 1 rank difference of their own. This is most common with orange and yellow belts being combined when there are not enough competitors in their divisions.

Weights in: The drop-down box are represented as a net with the appropriate Gi or No Gi allowance included. e.g. the 40.3kg Gi weight category means a combined net weight (including Gi) of under 40.3kg.

THERE IS NO WEIGHT ALLOWANCE. For example, if the division is Up to 40.3kg, then a competitor weighing in at 40.4kg would be missing weight.

RISK AND INSURANCE:

The fighter and/or their guardian (if under 18yrs) acknowledges and agrees that the fighter shall be responsible to obtain all or any insurance for loss and/or medical, hospital, life, income protection, personal, property, or any other risk or damage that the fighter may cause or suffer, (whether directly or indirectly) and the fighter covenants that he acknowledges that any failure by the fighter to fully insure himself against any accident, damage, injury, loss, whatsoever, howsoever arising shall be solely at the risk of the fighter.

And the fighter and/or their guardian (if under 18yrs) hereby indemnifies the BJJAO against all and any loss or damage caused directly or indirectly by the fighter’s involvement in the event or contest. Furthermore, the fighter shall make themselves available at BJJAO's discretion to undergo pre and post bout medical examinations, including drug testing, by duly qualified personnel on the day of the event, at the BJJAO’s discretion and shall participate in the event solely at the BJJAO’s discretion, dependent upon the interpretation of the results of those tests at the sole discretion of the BJJAO.

AWARDS & PRIZES:

Competitors may only receive their medals whilst standing on the podium with the other competitors who placed in their division. If a competitor does not do this they will not receive their medal at a later date and this action may also cause a disciplinary result, potentially banning a competitor from competing in other divisions at the same tournament - due to bad sportsmanship. Competitors that are eligible for a gift, prize, T-shirt or other awards must collect them on the day of the competition. If they are not collected on the day of the tournament, the competitor is forfeiting their right to all gifts, prizes, T-shirts or other awards.

REFUND POLICY:

Any competitor that decides to withdraw from the competition prior to the Last Registration deadline, may receive 50% of their fee refunded. Competitors seeking the 50% fee re-compensation must alert the event organisers by email addressed to [email protected]. No refund for any cancellation after the last day of registration. No entries will be transferred or credited. There are no refunds or credits for this event, no exceptions. You will not be entitled to a refund or credit, regardless of whether or not you participate. By paying for your registration you will be put into a bracket and be called to compete on the day of competition. You will lose your first match by disqualification if you do not show up for your match, do not make the minimum qualification for that bracket, or have an injury or other medical condition that will not allow you to compete. This also includes single fighter categories when you are unable to be merged into another division, or your opponent/s have withdrawn from your division. This also includes divisions where all other opponents withdraw, are disqualified or absent and only one competitor remains. In this instance, the single competitor will gain points to be recognised, as well as team points, and be awarded the Gold Medal on the podium, and declared the winner.

DIVISION CHANGES:

Registrants and competitors can change their division manually through their Smoothcomp profile. This can and must be done before registrations close. Competitors who are from the same team that may be matched or merged, once registration has closed will not be eligible for a refund and will be unable to have their division changed. If competitors in this situation do not compete they will be disqualified and will not receive medals, ranking & team points as well as any gifts or awards associated with that division.
