2021 Adelaide International Open

The Adelaide International Open (AIO) is South Australia's premier Judo event.

AIO is open to all divisions from Junior Boys and Girls to Veterans. Competitors must be members of JudoSA, JA or IJF, 9 years or older and a minimum grade of Junior Yellow Belt for Boys and Girls and Yon Kyu (Orange Belt) for Cadets and Senior players.

Pink Belts Supporter event - October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, with 9 people losing their lives to the disease every day. In support, AIO encourages players to purchase a pink belt from Dojo Needs with all proceeds going to NBCF.   https://www.dojoneeds.com/pink-belt
Pink belts can be worn during warm-up and moving around the venue, but not in a shiai bout.

Weigh-in:
5.30 to 6.30pm - Friday 15th Oct at The Lights (Event Venue)
6.30 to 7.30pm - Friday 15th Oct at Kazoku Judokan, Reynella East College, SA

Changes to weight divisions will be allowed at time of weigh-in. If you are unable to weigh-in at these times please contact the Event Coordinator at [email protected] at least a day prior to the event.

Combining divisions:
If there is only one entry in a weight or age division, the player will be entered in the next higher weight class. JudoSA may combine divisions, to ensure competitors have a match, taking into account the competitors' weight, age and skill level to maximise a safe environment. Combined weight divisions do not attract Nationals Selection Points.

Gi and Safety Requirements

All players competing in the event must have clean white and blue judo gi that meets the size regulations, and females wear a white T-shirt under the gi. The nails of the feet and hands must be cut short.

Mouth Guards:
As per the Judo Australia Sporting Code, mouth guards are permitted provided they are properly fitted by a dentist. Unfitted mouth guards shall not be permitted. The player must provide documentation prior to the competition to the Event Coordinator at [email protected] and the player must also notify the mat Referee that they have a mouth guard each time they enters the mat to compete.

Note - The published fight sequence is an estimate, players should use this as a guide only and players should arrive well in advance of their forecast fight time. The draw is not final and subject to change without notice.

COVID-related impact:
If the event is cancelled due to Covid restrictions in SA or if competitors are unable to attend due to border restrictions, their nomination fees will be refunded.

If there are any border closures in force at the event no National Selection Points will be awarded for this event, in line with the JA policy However, grading points will still be awarded.
