Submission only cash prize tournament

MAIN EVENT - THE GIANTSLAYER ESTEVAN MARTINEZ VS GABE SOUZA

This event will be held completely outdoors in the evening featuring submission only cash prize divisions.

Spectators are highly encouraged: Tickets will be on sale online starting July 30th

Click here to purchase spectator tickets

Tickets can also be bought at the door with cash or card.

Registration for open weight divisions is free, and registration will close once the brackets are filled. Injuries and situations often arise that keep athletes from competing, so if a division is filled that you are interested in competing in, please send us an email and we will keep you in line in case an athlete drops out.

NOTE TO COMPETITORS:

We also hold a competition for children and adults at all levels in a normal competition setting call War Under the Lights. Click here to sign up for War Under the Lights.

If divisions fill completely we may open new divisions to competitors. Reaching out by email and making us aware of your interest in competing is the best way to help us decide on which, if any, divisions we add to the competition.

Our main event will feature last year's champion black belt champion Gabe Souza competing against Giantslayer Estevan Martinez.

The Giantslayer will also be holding an advanced kids/adults seminar in Tucson the day before the event. Click here for details

RULES:

The tournament is single elimination, submission only. After registration closes, or upon entries being filled for a particular division/belt level, brackets will be released.

Any match that does not end in submission will be decided via decision made by three anonymous judges who are watching the match. The judges will pick a winner based on three criteria:

1. Submission Attempts

2. Control

3. Aggression

These criteria are listed in no particular order.

Any decision made by the judges or a referee (in terms of stopping a fight due to an athlete tapping out) is final.

See our full set of rules including legal and illegal techniques for each belt level here.

AWARDS:

There will be a cash prize given to the winner of each division/belt level. The award scales are listed below.

BLUE BELT - $400

PURPLE BELT - $400

BROWN BELT - $400

BLACK BELT - $1,000

To win a division/belt level an athlete must win all of their matches without losing. The maximum number of matches an athlete would compete in would be 2.

The winner of each division will also receive a trophy.

As a reminder the tournament is single elimination.

SPECTATORS:

Spectators are highly encouraged to support the athletes, and outdoor seating is provided. The venue offers FREE PARKING

There will be vendors for accessories and food/drink at the event where spectators can purchase anything they would like.

The fee is $25 for spectators (Children under 6 gain free entry)

Tickets are available online at Evventbrite or at the door with cash or card.

WEIGH-INS:

WEIGH-INS WILL BE HELD THE DAY PRIOR TO THE EVENT AT THE COMPETITION VENUE.

The location for weigh-ins is the same as the location for the tournament, William David Sitton Field. Weigh-ins begin at 6 o’clock at night and are available until 8 o’clock. Athletes traveling to compete are allowed to weigh-in no later than one hour before their fight.

Fighters who do not make weight will be given the remaining time of the weigh-in window to make the correct weight. The scale we will be using is a Taylor brand scale and we will use pounds, not kg.

There is no weight allowance. An athlete must be within the appropriate weight range according to their registration or they will be disqualified. Refunds are not given due to disqualification.
Athletes competing in gi divisions do not need to weigh-in with their gi on.

All athletes in open weight divisions are required to weigh-in as well.

Example: An athlete registered in a division that ranges from 180 lbs to 195 lbs can weigh a maximum of 195.00 lbs or they will be disqualified. There is no weight allowance. Athletes are able to come in under the maximum weight in their division if they choose to do so.

ADMISSIONS:

Athletes should review all the rules before competing in a superfight competition.

There are no refunds for cancellation.

OTHER:

Pretend Media Corporation reserves the right to close registration when we reach full capacity, or on the day of the appointed event registration deadline, whichever comes first.

It is the responsibility of the athlete to be knowledgeable of the rules and guidelines pertaining to the sport.

SAFETY PROTOCOL:

The safety of our competitors is our number one priority. Please review our list of legal and illegal techniques and compete with everyone’s safety in mind.
