Cadets & Seniors Comp and Novice Junior Judo - May 2022

The Cadets & Seniors Competition is an event specifically for 15 year and over players - nominations are open until weigh-in on the day of the event! Senior Yellow belt to Black belt are eligible to compete. Novice Junior Judo is for beginners 5 to 10 years old with junior Yellow/White to Orange belts, and emphasises fun and engagement.

Are you 5 to 10 years old, with a minimum grade junior Yellow/White belt to a maximum grade junior Orange belt? If yes, please register here for some Judo fun.

      WARM UP/GAMES:  9.30 am – 10.30 am

       RANDORI:               10.30 am – 11.30 am

       PRESENTATIONS:     11.30 am

       COST:                     $5 per player

Judogi must be clean and correctly sized for judo, either blue or white are fine for this event.

Nails must be trimmed on hands and feet.

       WEIGH-IN:           10.30 am to 11.30 am
                                 (JFA and Grade Certificate numbers are needed)

       WARM UP:           12.00 noon to 12.30 pm

       SHIAI:                 12.30 pm to  finish by ~3 pm (depending on entries)

Go Kyu (yellow belt) players must have agreement from their coach that they are sufficiently experienced to compete safely.

Eligible multiple entries for the cost of a single entry. Don't forget the early bird discount, it ends 11 May 2022.

Combining divisions: If there is only one entry in a weight division, JudoSA may combine divisions to ensure players have a match, taking into account the player's weight and skill level to maximise a safe environment.

Judogi and Safety Requirements

All players competing in the event must have clean white and blue judogi of the correct size - the 'skirt' has to cover the buttocks completely. The judogi sleeves must cover up the full arm including wrist. The distance between the bottom of the trousers and the exterior ankle bone must be less or equal to 5 cm. The belt tips starting from the central knot must have a length between 20 and 30 cm.

Nails of the feet and hands must be cut short.

Note: As per the Judo Australia Sporting Code, mouth guards are permitted provided they are properly fitted by a dentist. Unfitted mouth guards shall not be permitted. The player must provide documentation prior to the competition to the Event Coordinator at [email protected] and the player must also notify the mat Referee that they have a mouth guard each time they enter the mat to compete.

INFORMATION FOR BOTH EVENTS

Admission for individual adult spectators or families is $5. Correct money is appreciated and electronic bank transfer will be available.

Photography

Taking photographs and videos occurs at JudoSA events and these may be displayed in public.

The Lights Community and Sports Centre staff will be filming at this event to highlight the diversity of activities played at this venue.

COVID Requirements

Judo SA seeks to provide the safest possible environment for our members and volunteers both on and off the mat. For this reason, all competitors, coaches, officials, and volunteers 12 years and above are required to have an up-to-date vaccination status as defined by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) at events.

NOTE: Players will be required to show up-to-date vaccination status at weigh-in and other groups to the volunteers at the event's registration desk.  

SPECIAL NOTE: From 13 May 2022 all spectators are no longer required to be vaccinated to attend JudoSA events. 

Please do not attend the event if you are unwell due to any illness that can be transmitted to others in the vicinity.

For the wellbeing of everyone, please comply with the COVID requirements for indoor sports as determined by SA Health and contained in Judo SA's COVID-Safe Plan. While wearing masks is voluntary, it is encouraged off the mat. Please sanitise your hands and practice physical distancing as required.
