Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022

The Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022 (OA Games 2022) is an international multi-sport competition in the Oceania Asia region for elite athletes with an intellectual impairment. It is being held 5-11 November 2022 in Brisbane, Australia. This event is delivered by Sport Inclusion Australia. This will be the first time a Virtus Regional Games will be held for the Oceania Asia region, with hundreds of athletes and officials from Asia, the Pacific and New Zealand coming to Australia.

Open to all eligible athletes, selected by their national bodies. 

Training Camp

Training sessions will be held on Sunday and Tuesday.

Sunday:
10:00-11:30 - Aus training session.
12:30-14:30 - Training mat open to all competitors and coaches.

Tuesday:
10:00-12:00 - Joint training session.

Mat Areas

1 mat (6x6m) with 2m safety area.

Weigh-in Opening and Closing Times

Weigh-in Sunday 6th November will be open from 11:30-12:00.

Competition

The first match is at 10:00 am.

Divisions 60, 66, 73 and 48, 52, 57 and 63 will be contested first, followed by a medal presentation and then lunch.

13:00-13:30 - There will be a presentation of Katame no Kata by World Championship bronze medallists Bernhard and Bjorn Tandean and of Ju no Kata by Bernhard and Bianca Tandean.

Divisions 81, 90, 100 and +100, 70, 78 and +78 will be contested after lunch from 14:00, with medal ceremony at 17:00

Changes to weight divisions will be allowed at the time of weigh-in. 

Gi Requirements

All players competing in the Virtus Oceania Asia Games must wear a white judogi. Red sashes will be used.

Notes

As per the Judo Queensland Sporting Code, mouth guards are permitted provided they are properly fitted by a dentist. Unfitted mouthguards shall not be permitted. The player must provide documentation prior to the competition to the Event Administrator at [email protected] and the player must also notify the mat Referee that they have a mouth guard each time they enter the mat to compete.

The Tournament Director reserves the right to combine weight divisions and categories to provide maximum levels of participation for athletes.
