June 2019 True North Grappling Championship

TRUE NORTH GRAPPLING LTD.

With a very successful inaugural event in March, the 2nd event by True North Grappling Ltd. is expected to be bigger and better.  It is a tournament open to competitors of all belt and skill levels from ages 5 and up.

It is our mission to provide competitors an opportunity to showcase their skill at a grass-roots level and to further enhance competitive athletes with a platform to an international level against the best grapplers in Canada and abroad.

REGISTRATION FEES:

Athletes should be registered for the appropriate division using their age as of the date of the tournament.

Early Bird Registration March 16 - March 31, 2019 ($79)

Regular Registration April 1 - May 11, 2019 ($99)

Late Registration May 12 - May 25, 2019 ($119)     Kids 10 and under ($99)

NO REFUNDS Except if you are alone in your division

WEIGH-IN INFORMATION:

Weigh-ins take place at the ‘bull pen’ at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your division. Not making weight or failing to show up for scheduled weigh-in will result in a disqualification with NO REFUND. Please be assured that we make every effort to match competitors fairly, according to age, weight and rank. Should the event reach capacity, we reserve the right to close online registration early.

Each Academy may designate up to two coaches to receive spectator passes at no cost. The Academy must have competitors registered for this event and the passes must be approved by the Event Coordinator.

SPECTATORS:

Spectator Fee: $10

All spectators over 10 years old must have a spectator pass. Passes can be purchased at the event.

SMOOTHCOMP:

Coaches please register your Academy in Smoothcomp as this will allow you to track your competitors and allow your students to register under the correct Academy name and Affiliation. BRACKETING INFORMATION:

Pee Wee & Mighty Mite are guaranteed two matches. Junior, Teen, Juvenile, Adult & Masters are modified single elimination bracket. Competitors are not guaranteed more than one match per division regardless of the outcome.

PLEASE NOTE: Competitors are required to wear an IBJJF approved uniform (gi) or (nogi) uniform.

MATCH DURATION:

Age 5-6 (2 minutes)

Age 7-15 (3 minutes)

Age 16+ (5 minutes)

OPEN CLASS:

Male Adult/Master Athletes who place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their respective category are eligible to register for the Open Class bracket for that category and belt level. Women Adult/Master medalists will be eligible to compete in Open Class brackets of either White/Blue belt or Purple/Brown/Black belt.

How to register?

The athletes who are willing to register for the Open Class may do so at the event’s Open Class registration table within 15 minutes after their category's medal presentation.

A minimum of 4 competitors are required to run an Open Class bracket.

NO-GI ABSOLUTE CLASS*:

All belt levels welcome to compete

Gold medalists receive $500 prize consisting of $250 Cash & $250 Hayabusa Gift Card*

COMPETITOR T-SHIRTS:

Competitors who register will qualify for a free promotional t-shirt.

The registered competitor must pick up their t-shirt at the retail booth on the day of the event.

This is a promotional item and has no monetary value.

Exact size and design of the promotional t-shirt is not guaranteed.
