BJJ Events SA presents the ADCC iBhayi Challenge - a premium no-gi submission grappling event hosted in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on 13 July, 2019.

*Registration note*

When registering on behalf of a competitor younger than 18 years please register the competitor's name, age etc and not your own as this will limit the entry options available to you.

Competition payment

Competition fee is R300 for adults 18+; R250 for under 18 year olds. Payment has to be paid before the last registration date to bank account in order to complete registration. Late fee is R350 for adults.

Legal Techniques

- Any kind of choke (except for using the hand to close the wind pipe)

- with or without the use of the uniform

- Any armbar, shoulder lock, or wrist lock

- Any Leg Lock or Ankle Lock

Illegal Techniques

- No "Full Nelson" or "Crucifix"

- No striking / kicking of any kind

- No eye gouging or fish hooking

- No grabbing the ears

- No hair pulling, biting

- No finger or toe holds

- No thumbing

- No scratching and pinching

- No touching groin area

- No hands, knees or elbows on face

- No slippery substances allowed on body or clothing

The referee’s decision/judging can’t be overruled!

The winner will be decided according to:

If one competitor gives up or submits by tapping the leg, arm or verbally

If Referee feels one competitor is unable to defend himself or feels his life is in danger,

Referee will declare the winner

If a fighter breaks the rules twice he will be disqualified by the Referee

6 minutes in ordinary fights (first 3 min without points)

8 minutes in the finales (first 4 min without points)

One Extra round’s are added if fights are even

Men (Including Masters Division): -60kg, -65kg, -70kg, -76kg, -83kg, -91kg, -100kg and +100kg

Female (Beginner/Intermediate): -50kg, -55kg, -60kg, -65kg, -70kg and +70kg

Female (Pro): -60kg and +60kg


Boys: 7yrs - 10yrs: -24kg, -28kg, -32kg, -36kg, -40kg and +40kg

Boys: 11yrs - 14yrs: -36kg, -40kg, -45kg, -50kg, -55kg and +55kg

Boys: 15yrs - 17yrs: -50kg, -55kg, -60kg, -65kg, -70kg, -75kg, -80kg and +80kg

Girls: 7yrs - 10yrs: 24kg, -28kg, -32kg, -36kg, -40kg and +40kg

Girls: 11yrs - 14yrs: -36kg, -40kg, -45kg, -50kg, -55kg and +55kg

Fighter may use tights, shorts, T-shirt, rash guard or Kimono


9 x 9 meters, (8x8m, 1m safety area)

Mat escape, same position as the fighter were in when they crossed the mat line or referee say “stop”

Every weight classes’ three best fighters will receive medals. Pro divisions receive cash prizes.
