Shawn Owen started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2012 and achieved the rank of brown belt in 2017. During that time he has competed locally and internationally, placing on the podium or winning gold medals in most competitions he's entered (Asian Open, Oregon Open, BC Provincials, among others). His true passion, however, is simply learning and sharing jiu jitsu with others. He began assisting in classes as a white belt in 2013 and has been teaching ever since at multiple schools in the Fraser Valley. He is well respected as a technical grappler and has been referred to as the best kept secret in the local jiu jitsu community.
