SIO South Island Open 3
The SIO South Island Open 3 is coming to Vancouver Island on Saturday, July 6th, 2024!
This Brazilian Jiu-jitsu tournament is open to all-ages and features both Gi and No-Gi divisions. All divisions will use the Round-Robin format (rather than elimination-based) and our IBJJF points-based ‘Sub-Hunter’ ruleset will favour submission wins over points wins in the rankings for medals.
The number of matches will depend on the number of competitors in your division. All divisions will be formed based on a combination of age, weight, and skill. We will make every effort to create even and competitive brackets; however, we reserve the right to merge divisions in order to give everyone the best experience.
All Black Belts register for FREE using the code: Blackbelt2024
Deadline for Early Bird registration is Wednesday, May 1st. Regular registration will be open until Saturday, June 22nd. Late registration will close Sunday, June 30th at midnight.
SCHEDULE:
Brackets and schedule will be posted mid-week prior to the event on Smoothcomp. Note that we will start with Kids divisions first, followed by Juvenile and Adult. The tournament is expected to run from approximately 9am to 4pm.
MOVEMENT & CANCELLATION POLICY:
No division movement requests will be processed by via email while Registration is open.
Changes to or cancellation of any competitor’s registration must be initiated by the Adult competitor or Kids or Youth competitor’s Parent/Guardian in Smoothcomp. Login to your profile and select "My Account". Then, click "Edit" for this event. To cancel an athlete's registration, click "Cancel".
Movement requests will not be accommodated after late registration closes. Please ensure you are in the appropriate division before Sunday, June 20th, 2024. If there are any issues in your division once brackets are posted, or if an Athlete must cancel after late registration closes, please email us at [email protected]
SPECTATORS:
Registered minor competitors (age 17 and below) will be permitted one parent spectator free of charge. Otherwise, there will be a $10 spectator fee which may be paid at the door (cash preferred).
Coaches Passes will be available based on the number of competitors per club; contact us at [email protected] to request passes.
COACH PASSES:
Coach Passes are for active coaches/instructors ONLY and are based on the number of competitors per academy:
