SIO Junior Championship 2023

The SIO Junior Championship 2023  is coming to Vancouver Island on Saturday March 11th, 2023!

This Kids, Youth, and Teen Gi and NoGi round-robin tournament is open to Jiu-jitsu clubs of all affiliations. Competitors who register in both Gi and NoGi Divisions will receive the second division at an additionally discounted price. 

This will be a great opportunity to get some competition experience in a friendly venue. We will offer Points divisions using the IBJJF points system for all divisions. All divisions will use the Round-Robin format* (rather than elimination-based) and the number of matches will depend on the number of competitors in your division.

All divisions will be formed based on a combination of age, weight, and skill. We will make every effort to create even and competitive brackets; however, we reserve the right to merge divisions in order to give everyone the best experience.

The tournament is expected to run from approximately 9am to 4pm

Schedule (times are estimated):

8:30am - Kids (ages 4-8) arrive for check-in 

9:00am - Kids matches begin

9:30am - Youth (ages 9-15) - arrive for check-in 

10:00am - Youth matches begin

1:00pm - Juveniles (ages 16-17) arrive for check-in 

1:30pm - Juveniles matches begin

MOVEMENT & CANCELLATION POLICY:

No division movement requests will be processed by via email while Registration is open.

Changes to or cancellation of any competitor’s registration must be initiated by the Adult competitor or Kids or Youth competitor’s Parent/Guardian in Smoothcomp. Login to your profile and select "My Account". Then, click "Edit" for this event. To cancel an athlete's registration, click "Cancel".

Movement requests will not be accommodated after late registration closes. Please ensure you are in the appropriate division before Sunday, March 5th 2023. If an Athlete must cancel after Late Registration closes, please email us at [email protected].

SPECTATORS:

Registered minor competitors (age 17 and below) will be permitted one parent spectator free of charge. Otherwise there will be a $10 spectator fee which may be paid at the door (cash preferred).
