We are affiliated with the international Jiu Jitsu Team, [CHECKMAT], known for its stellar athletes and exceptional instructors. The name Checkmat comes from the strategic and tactical comparisons we make between Jiu Jitsu and chess.
The team was founded in 2008 by Leonardo Vieira.
Today we have academies in various countries and are considered one of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu organizations in the world.
Checkmat Riverview opened in October of 2019 is proud to be a member of the Checkmat family.
