Junior Divisions
As with adult divisions, all weigh-ins will take place no gi (regardless of whether your child is competing no gi or not). This will either be prior to their no gi match in the morning or their gi match in the afternoon.
One coach will be allowed both in the bullpen prior to the match and also matside with a child during the competition. Parents are not permitted access to either the bullpen area or competition mats. Anyone attempting to force their way through into these areas will be warned in the first instance and if continued attempts are made or any abuse is directed towards our staff they will be ejected from the venue.
In the event we can not match a child in their chosen age/weight category we will look at the following options: -
Moving the child up a maximum of one age divisions
Moving the child up a maximum of one age category
We may also mix genders depending on the circumstances..
We may mix belts in the following manner: -
- White Group & Grey Group may be combined
- Yellow Group , Orange Group & Green group may be combined.
Ruleset for both Gi and No Gi is the current version of the IBJJF rules. We will allow different coloured gi's than IBJJF standard but they must fit correctly and be in good condition. Rashguards are allowed under the gi for all junior competitors.
For no gi, rashguard and board shorts (not leggings on their own or compression shorts) are required. Leggings can be worn under board shorts.
