National Grappling League | Season Opener

National Grappling League is excited to open the 2022 season in the epic Bay of Plenty. We will be showcasing a new ruleset to the New Zealand grappling scene, designed to bring out the purest and best jiu jitsu. The submission only, with EBI overtime, encourages an exciting competition where there is one clear winner and an event full of submission.

Doors are open from 8:30am

Weigh-ins are open from 8.30 am

Competition starts from 9.30 am

Weight Divisions

Mens:

Featherweight - under 66kg

Lightweight - under 72kg

Welterweight - under 79kg

Middleweight - under 87kg

Light Heavyweight - under 95kg

Heavyweight - above 96kg

Womens:

Lightweight - under 60kg

Middleweight - under 70kg

Heavyweight - above 70kg

Ranking Divisions

White, Blue, Purple, Brown, & Black

Note: If you are a pro MMA fighter or a black belt in another martial art, you are ineligible for the white belt division.

Medals will be presented shortly after divisions have finished. There won’t be any unnecessary or unwanted hanging around, the option to turn up, compete and go home will be there.
