1) How do I contact the Nottingham Open organising team?

2) What is the refund policy?
Your registration is fully refundable up to one week before the event.
You can request a refund using Smoothcomp by logging in and going to your account, and then cancelling your registration for the Nottingham Open. The competition is non-refundable within seven days of the event.
3) What are the Uniform Requirements?
We require athletes to wear a Gi + Belt + undergraments. Gi's should be black, blue or white only.
4) How do I know the time of my matches (or my child matches)?
The brackets and time of matches will be released two days before the event. Plan to arrive at the tournament to weigh in with plenty of time before your scheduled time to compete. Weigh in will open at 8am and will prioritise kids weigh ins until 10am.
5) Do I have to arrive when it opens and stay there all day?
The Nottingham Open will hold the kids divisions in the morning and adult divisions in the afternoon so please make sure you are there in plenty of time for your match or your child’s match. You are welcome to stay all day to support your team if you would like.
6) Can I update my registration information?
Changing your registration information, including your division, is easy. Just log back into your Smoothcomp account and make your changes. Please note it is your responsibility to check the registration details are correct at least seven days before the competition, including the weight category.
7) Am I allowed a small weight difference on the day or do I need to be spot on with our weight in the gi?
You need to be spot on with your weight in the gi. We will have a set of scales where you can check your weight before weighing in. Consistent with IBJJF rules, if you do not make weight on the day, you will be disqualified. If you think that you might need to change weight divisions, please update it using Smoothcomp before the late registration deadline.
8) Do I have to create a different account for everyone in the family?
No! You can create different profiles within your account and register everyone from your family. Competitors under the age of 18 should be added to an adult profile in order to register for the competition.
9) Is there a spectator fee?
Spectator tickets are £5.00 online or on the door. We can take cash or card on the door. Children under 6 years old do not require a spectator ticket.
Competitors up to 15 years old receive one complimentary spectator ticket. Please select the spectator ticket on the Smoothcomp registration page.
10) Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration does not match the person who attends?
It's important that you fix this information in order to be able to compete on the day. Please log into your Smoothcomp account to update your information at least seven days before the competition.
11) Where can I find out more about the rules of the competition?
The Nottingham Open follows the IBJJF rules, which can be found here. You can also download a helpful poster of the technical fouls and illegal moves. It is the athletes and parents of athletes responsibility to understand and follow these rules.
12) Will there be an absolute / open weight category and how do I sign up to it?
If we have enough time once we have finished the weight categories, we will be running absolutes for adult and Masters blue belts and above, and juvenile blue belts and above. Masters age categories will be combined. In the interest of safety, there is no absolute for white belts or kids, in line with IBJJF rules.
To qualify for the absolute you need to have medaled in your category and you should sign up at the medal podium after your category is finished.
13) I am a coach representing my academy. How do I receive a coaches’ pass?
Please email [email protected] at least 2 days before the competition. We will be issuing only 2 coach passes per academy. These requests should be submitted by the head coach or school owner from an official gym email.
