2024 JudoSA Winter Championships

The 2024 Winter Championships is for all JudoSA Clubs and a great opportunity to improve your competition skills.

Open to all divisions from Under 11 (U11) Boys and Girls to Senior Men and Women. Players must be members of JudoSA, JA or IJF; turning 9 years old this calendar year or older; and a minimum grade of Go Kyu (Full Yellow Belt). Adaptive Judo (No Limits/Special Needs) Players are welcome to enter.

Go Kyu players must have agreement from their coach that they are sufficiently experienced to compete safely.

Check out the following:

  • Novice Division for Cadets, and Senior Men and Women with yellow or orange belt.
  • Lightweight Open for Men and Women. Also eligible to enter the Open.

  • 6.00pm to 7.00pm at The Lights (Event Venue) or
  • 6.30pm to 7.30pm at Kazoku Judokan (Reynella East College)

     Event: from 10.00am to approx 3.30pm. Order of matches from junior to senior.

NOTICES:

  • New Age & Weight Divisions: Judo Australia's 2024 requirements for players under 15 years of age will be adopted at this and subsequent events. For more information go to: https://www.ausjudo.com.au/competitionrules
  • Half Colour Belts: Select the higher colour level on your belt, ignoring any black tip, when registering.
  • Weigh-in: Changes to weight divisions will be allowed at time of weigh-in. If you are unable to weigh-in at these times please contact the Event Coordinator at [email protected] at least a day prior to the event.
  • Combining divisions: If there is only one entry in a weight or age division, the player will be entered in the next higher weight class. The Tournament Director has the discretion to combine divisions in alignment with best principles, to ensure players have a match, taking into account the player's weight, age and skill level to maximise a safe environment.
  • Match sequence: The published match sequence is an estimate, players should use this as a guide only and players should arrive well in advance of their forecast fight time. The draw is not final and subject to change without notice.

Judogi and Safety Requirements

  • All players competing in the event must have undamaged and clean white and blue judogi that meets current size regulations. The sleeves must cover up the full arm including wrist; the 'skirt' has to cover the buttocks completely; the distance between the bottom of the trousers and the exterior ankle bone must be less or equal to 5 cm; and the belt tips starting from the central knot must have a length between 20 and 30cm.
  • Females players to wear a white T-shirt under the judogi.
  • The nails of the toes and fingers to be clean and cut short.
  • Long hair: Tie up long hair securely so it is out of the way, not covering the neck, and does not prevent the grip of the opponent. Hair ties must not be metallic.
  • Mouth Guards: As per the Judo Australia Sporting Code, mouth guards are permitted provided they are properly fitted by a dentist. Unfitted mouth guards shall not be permitted. The player must provide documentation prior to the competition to the Event Coordinator at [email protected] and the player must also notify the mat Referee that they have a mouth guard each time they enter the mat to compete.

  • Senior Men Open 0 AUD
    Members who entered Senior Men Division, are 18 years or older, and Yon Kyu (Orange belt) or higher. No weight restrictions
  • Senior Men Lightweight Open 0 AUD
    Senior Men Open who are about 76kg (TBD on day) or less. Can enter Open too.
  • Senior Men 35 AUD
    Members who turn 15 years or older in the current calendar year
  • Novice Senior Men 35 AUD
    Senior Men with either yellow or orange belt
  • Senior Women Open 0 AUD
    Members who entered Senior Women Division, are 18 years or older, and Yon Kyu (Orange belt) or higher. No weight restrictions
  • Senior Women Lightweight Open 0 AUD
    Senior Women Open who are about 67kg (TBD on day) or less. Can enter Open too.
  • Senior Women 35 AUD
    Members who turn 15 years or older in the current calendar year
  • Novice Senior Women 35 AUD
    Senior Women with either yellow or orange belt
  • Junior Men 35 AUD
    Members who turn 15 to 20 years old in the current calendar year
  • Junior Women 35 AUD
    Members who turn 15 to 20 years old in the current calendar year
  • Cadet Men 35 AUD
    Members who turn 15, 16 or 17 years old in the current calendar year
  • Novice Cadet Men 35 AUD
    Cadet Men with either yellow or orange belt
