- Your registration is fully refundable up to one week before the event. You can request a refund using Smoothcomp by logging in and going to your account, and then cancelling your registration for the Nottingham Open. The competition is non-refundable within seven days of the event.
HOW TO REGISTER
- When registering your child for the tournament, it is essential to have a conversation with their coach or professor. Ask them if they feel your child is ready and how you and they can work together to help your child prepare for the tournament. Also, you and your child coach should decide in which division your child should register.
- Our divisions are made up of three elements: Age, Rank, and Weight.
- Age: The age groups are based on the child’s age on the day of the tournament and are as follows: Pee Wee 1 (4 and 5 years old), Pee Wee 2 (6 and 7 years old), Junior 1 (8 and 9 years old), Junior 2 (10 and 11 years old), Teen 1 (12 and 13 years old), Teen 2 (14 to 15 years old), Juvenile (16 and 17 years old).
- Rank: Please select your child’s current belt group: White, Grey, Yellow, Orange, Green and Blue.
- Weight: Weigh in your child wearing their uniform (Kimono, belt and undergarments). The kimono should be blue, black or white only. The official weigh-in will take place on the day of the competition prior to their first match. Monitor your child's weight during the weeks leading into competition. Any changes in division must be made through Smoothcomp seven days before the event.
- Download the kids weight categories chart here and the juvenile weight chart here. All weigh ins are in kilograms.
- Athletes who do not meet the weight requirement for the division on the morning of the competition are subjected to immediate disqualification.
- Most weight categories are up to categories (i.e. up to 24kg) which your child must weigh under on the day. Please check the details of the weight category carefully.
- There will be no consolation matches for children who do not make weight.
- Changes to registration by parents: The deadline to make any changes to your child's division is seven days before the event.
- Changes to registration by organisers: The tournament organizers will use their best judgment to create competitive matches for every athlete. When registering, you will be asked if you agree to move your child up in weight or age if they are the only competitor in the division.
- If your child is alone in the bracket and you do not wish he or she to move up in age or weight, you will be given the option for either your child to be declared the winner of the division and receive the medal at the podium or be offered a refund by the organisers.
