2022 JudoSA Winter Championships

The Winter Championships of 2022 for all JudoSA Clubs.

The Winter Championships is open to all divisions from Junior Boys and Girls to Senior Men and Women. Players must be members of JudoSA, JA or IJF; 9 years or older; and a minimum grade of Go Kyu (Yellow Belt).

Go Kyu players must have agreement from their coach that they are sufficiently experienced to compete safely.

Check out the yellow or orange belt Novice Division for Cadets and Senior Men and Women.

No Limits Players are welcome to enter.

The competition event will run from the morning to early afternoon on 30 July 2022. Admission for individual spectators or families is $5 with 'tap and pay' facilities available.

Weigh-in for all Players is on Friday 29 July at The Lights (the venue) from 6 to 7pm, at Kazoku Judokan (Reynella East College) from 6.30 to 7.30 pm and at Port Augusta Judo Club from 5 to 6pm.

Changes to weight divisions will be allowed at time of weigh-in. If you are unable to weigh-in at this time please contact the Event Coordinator at [email protected] prior to the day of the event.

Combining divisions: If there is only one entry in a weight or age division, the player will be entered in the next higher weight class. JudoSA may combine divisions, to ensure competitors have a match, taking into account the competitors' weight, age and skill level to maximise a safe environment.

Note - The published fight sequence is an estimate, players should use this as a guide only and players should arrive well in advance of their forecast fight time. The draw is not final and subject to change without notice.

Judogi and Safety Requirements

All players competing in the event must have a clean white and blue judogi that meets the size regulations, and females to wear a white T-shirt under the judogi.  The judogi sleeves must cover up the full arm including wrist; the 'skirt' has to cover the buttocks completely; the distance between the bottom of the trousers and the exterior ankle bone must be less or equal to 5 cm; and the belt tips starting from the central knot must have a length between 20 and 30 cm.

The nails of the feet and hands must be clean and cut short.

Long hair must be tied up out of the way and not prevent the grip of the opponent. Hair ties must be non-metallic.

Mouth Guards: As per the Judo Australia Sporting Code, mouth guards are permitted provided they are properly fitted by a dentist. Unfitted mouth guards shall not be permitted. The player must provide documentation prior to the competition to the Event Coordinator at [email protected] and the player must also notify the mat Referee that they have a mouth guard each time they enter the mat to compete.
