Welcome to our first instalment of the Malaysia BJJ Kids International. This will be the first Kid’s Only BJJ competition in Malaysia and we strive to provide a welcoming and friendly competitive environment for our young competitors. This competition will take place in an indoor sports venue with shower and sauna facilities, customised event medals and a team of highly qualified black belts to ensure the competition runs smoothly. What rules are the competition under?

ALL our competitions follow the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (IBJJF) ruleset unless specifically stated otherwise. For more information regarding the IBJJF rules and regulations, please read https://ibjjf.com/rules/

What is an appropriate attire for me to wear to compete?

For Gi competitors, your Gi must be the appropriate length and size. You are free to compete in either white, blue or black coloured Gi. It is compulsory for all competitors to wear a rashguard under their Gi. Please ensure there are no unpleasant odours emanating from competition apparel. What are the procedures for weighing in?

You can weigh in anytime before you are called in the bullpen, although weighing in early is highly recommended. For athletes competing in the Gi, weigh-ins must be done in the Gi. There is a 300g weight allowance. Competitors who fail to make weight will be allowed disqualified.

What happens if I signed up for the weight division, but realize I will not be able to make the weight before the tournament begins?

You will be able to change your weight division (on your own via Smoothcomp) before brackets are drawn (7 days before the tournament begins.) Once the brackets are drawn however you will have to make weight or be disqualified on the day of the competition.

What happens if I signed up but am unable to compete?

Unfortunately, we do not give out cash refunds.

I missed the registration dateline. Will I still be allowed to register and compete?

Unfortunately, we will not allow last minute registrations. This is to minimize any confusion from occurring as we draw up the brackets. Our registration timeline is written on our Smoothcomp and will be updated frequently on our social media.

You can check your brackets when they are released, usually, 4-5 days before the tournament commences.

In the event there are 3 competitors within a weight class, we will follow IBJJF's round robin format. 

Academies incentive

We would like to inform you of our available incentives to teams who register larger number of competitors.

• Teams that register more than 20 competitors will be classified as “Gold Teams". Gold Teams will have their team logo published on our competition website and the podium backdrop ; larger in size and more centralised.

• Teams that register between 10 -19 competitors will be classified as “Silver Teams". Silver Teams will have their team logo published on our competition website and the podium backdrop ; smaller in size and below the Gold Teams.

• Teams that register between 5 - 9 competitors will be classified as “Bronze Teams". Bronze Teams will only have their team logo published on our competition website.
