Garden City Open II - A Submission Grappling Tournament

Big Sky Submission Grappling Federation presents Second Annual Garden City Open - A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament. This will be adults and children both Gi and No Gi. The Garden City Open is a round robin tournament that uses a scoring system developed by The Northwest Open. This scoring system not only gives points for dominant position, but also strongly encourages submissions. The tournament will be held in spectacular Missoula, Montana at the Schreiber Gym on the University of Montana Campus.

We have now added a Judo Division!  Details below!

~ Tournament date is 19 May 2018

~ First BJJ division will be $50 USD (late registration $65 USD)

~ Second BJJ division will be an additional $20 (late registration $20 USD)

~ Judo Division will be $20 (late registration $25)

~ Absolute Division:

This division is free to register but you must register in gi, no-gi or both of your weight and division.

In the GI, 18 years old and up for Purple, Brown and Black belts.

Cash Payouts for top three placers in the Absolute:

1st: $500

2nd: $300

3rd: $200

~ Late Registration starts on 01 May 2018

~ Final Registration is before Midnight on 16 May

~ Spectators will be $5.00 per person at the door.

~ There will be ZERO WEIGHT ALLOWANCE at this event. This includes children. Please make sure you sign up or you sign your child up for the weight class they will weigh in at. There will be no exceptions. The reason is we would need to change the brackets to accommodate a change in weight class. Re doing the brackets day of is a lot of work and will prolong over all tournament times. They can not stay in the registered weight class because that would be unfair to the rest of the competitors in that weight class. If you are unsure if you will be in a weight class just register for the weigh up and you will be sure to make the weight! If you do not make your registered weight class this will result in an automatic disqualification with no refunds.

Tournament Start Times:

8:30 AM - Doors open / Competitors check In (Strictly Enforced)

9:00 AM - Rules meeting

9:30 AM - Children BJJ divisions will start. All children competitors must be

     checked in before 9:30 AM and be in the tournament area ready

     to compete or they may be disqualified if their division is called

     (so please give yourself ample time to find parking and be ready to enter when doors open).

11:00 AM - Adults BJJ divisions will start promptly after the children

     competitors, so all adult competitors must be in the tournament

     area no later than 11:00 AM or they may be disqualified if they

     are not present when their division is called.

11:30 AM - Children Judo divisions will tentatively start.  Competitors should be checked in and ready to start no 

                   later than 11:30 AM or they may be disqualified.

12:00 PM - Adult Judo divisions will tentatively start. Competitors should be checked in and ready to start no

                 later than 12:00 PM or they may be disqualified.

- Judo Division Attire:  Judo or BJJ Gis are both allowed to encourage cross-over entries this year.  Gi color does

                               not matter, anklets attached to the belts indicating Blue or Red will be utilized so players

                               are not required to have two uniforms.

- Competitors will weigh in the first time they check in.

- The Gi will not be required to weigh in.

Important message about the academies: the academies of the registrants must be EXACTLY the same to add the academy points and to avoid a match between team mates in the 1st round of a bracket. For example: 'RSU' and 'Ring Sports United' will NOT be considered as the same academy. You can change your academy by logging into your account.
