Midlands Inter-University Open
Overview: Join us for the inaugural Midlands Inter-University Open, its a Submission only No Gi event exclusively for university students. It aims to bring together students from across the Midlands region to compete and celebrate the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and foster a sense of community among practitioners.
A testament to the power of collaboration and camaraderie among BJJ enthusiasts. Promoted and organised by the Midlands Interclub Division in collaboration with Nottingham Trent, the University of Derby, University of Nottingham, Loughborough University and Birmingham University.
Event Details:
- Date: April 21st.
- Location: Lee Westward Sports Centre, Nottingham Trent University.
- Free on site parking available.
- This event will run No Gi only:
- Categories: White Belt (1 year experience and below), White Belt (above 1 year experience), Blue Belts and Purple Belts
Brackets and match schedules will be published via smoothcomp and will be updated live throughout the event. - Entry Requirements:
- Only university students are allowed to compete, ID will be checked on the day
- White, Blue and Purple belts only
Athletes should be in the warm up area 60 minutes ahead of the start of the division. It is the athletes responsibility to check-in with their mat co-ordinator when called. Any athletes not present at the start time of their division will be disqualified.

Early bird tickets (£17) are from March 1st to March 31st.
Normal tickets (£22)
Absolute division £20 Half of entry fee will be added to the cash prize.
Entry for SPECTATORS COSTS £3 on the door (pay by cash or contactless).
EVENT RULES
Competition Format & Rules
This event is a No Gi submission only competition. You either win by submission or the referee decides, IBJJF Ruleset, Official ruleset can be found here.
Uniform - All athletes' uniform is required to be clean and presentable. If the athlete’s uniform does not meet requirements, they will have one opportunity to find a suitable replacement or will be disqualified.
Weigh-ins - You may weigh in at anytime from 9am onwards on the competition day, priority being given to those competing first in the day. If athletes fail to make weight they will be disqualified.
One coach per competitor will be permitted to sit mat-side for the duration of the match. Coaches must remain seated during matches and must not interfere with event officials. All athletes and coaches must leave the competition area once their matches have finished.
Photos will be posted to Midlands Interclub Division Facebook page following the event.
THE EVENT ORGANISERS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY OR ADMISSION. THE RESPECT RULE WILL BE IN OPERATION AND ANY COMPETITOR, COACH OR SPECTATOR THAT BREAKS THIS RULE WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE EVENT.
