We named our school after Lord Hanuman, the original greatest martial artist of all time. Hanuman, a monkey god originally from the Hindu pantheon, was blessed with incredible supernatural powers, or siddhi in Sanskrit. He is invincible to any weapon of war. He can shape shift from microscopic to the size of entire planets. He can fly faster than light, make himself as light or as heavy as he pleases, control anything he wants, whenever he wants, and bonus point: for a giant monkey, he’s unbelievably good looking. ​ Hanuman is more than the ultimate warrior. He’s also a master of worldly knowledge and spiritual wisdom. He is impervious to temptation and desire, and carries himself with humility, compassion, and simplicity. He can inspire fear in the hearts of his enemies, and erase it from the hearts of his friends. The true source of Hanuman’s power lies not in his siddhi alone, but in the strength of mind he uses to exercise them. This balance between physical skill and wisdom, discipline and kindness is one we strive for at our school – and so, we named ourselves after the ultimate role model.
