NZ Professional Grappling Combat
Welcome to Professional Grappling Combat (PGC) bringing you exciting matches and the opportunity to test yourself in the realm of No-Gi Jiu Jitsu and Novice MMA.
# Main Event / Super Fights
At the end of the competition there will be three invitational super fights as the main event. Watch high level NO-GI competition where NZ's best grapplers go head to head to prove who is the best.
Round Time
10 Minutes
Stalling position or inactivity will result in warnings from ref and judges decision will negatively be affected.
Positional dominance & threat of submission favoured by judges.
# Ruleset
Your NO-GI match will be submission only and no points will be awarded. If there is no submission by the end of the match it goes to refs decision. The decision will be purely based off legitimate submission attempts and aggression. There is no penalty for pulling guards.
Beginner/Intermediate Round Time
6 Minutes
Advanced Round Time
8 Minutes
The ruleset is very similar to WNO or PGF rules.
Advance illegal techniques
- No slamming is allowed
- No neck cranks that trap both shoulders and puts downward pressure on the neck
- No “Full Nelson”
- No crucifix
- No spiking your opponent on their head while attempting a takedown
- No spiking your opponent’s head when opponent is on your back
- CAN NOT roll forward while someone is on your back
- No striking of any kind
- No eye gouging or fish hooking
- No grabbing the ears
- No hair pulling
- No holding of less than 4 fingers or less than 5 toes
- No thumbing
- No scratching and pinching
- No biting
- No squeezing or putting pressure on the groin area
- No hands, knees or elbows on face
- No slippery substances allowed on body or clothing
- No cross-face guillotine twisting the chin
- No use holding of the T-Shirt or short
Beginner illegal techniques
- All the above
- No leglocks except straight ankle lock
- No spine twisters
- No toeholds
- No kneebars
- No calf pressure locks
- No opposite RNC applying pressure on the neck
- No banana split
- No biceps pressure locks
# Bracket Format
If your division has 4 or more competitors, the format will be single elimination. Winners progress to next match until final.
If the division has 3 competitors, then the format will be round robin.
In case of there being only the 2 of you in your division, the format will be best of three.
# Merging
If there are no matches in your division, we will move you up to ensure you are able to compete.
# Doors Open
Doors will open from 8am for competitors only.
Event starts 9am.
# Weigh-ins
Same day weigh-ins starting from 8am.
Weight tolerance of +/- 500g.
# Registrations
Normal Registration
$50 for normal registration until 7th of September.
Late Registration
Late registrations allowed up until 2 days before the event
$60 for late registrations.
Registration ends 12th of September.
Absolute
We will be running absolute matches on the day dependent on competitors willing to join.
$30 Additional for absolute division.
Blackbelt Competitors
Blackbelts can compete for free. If you are a blackbelt and would like to compete, reach out to us on [email protected] to receive your coupon code.
# Cancellation
Once registered no refunds will be possible. Cancellation will be credited towards next competition.
# Spectators
Spectators fees will be $20 cash at the door or $25 card payment.
Under 12 years old free.
All black belts entry free.
One coach entry free.
