Professor Orlando Mosquea is a US Army veteran, retired Federal agent with the Department of Homeland Security, and a 1st Degree Black Belt in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Professor Mosquea was introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2003 while serving active duty as an Infantryman in the U.S Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom. After completing his military service he continued to serve as a federal agent with The Department of Homeland Security. This is when (2007) he began his in-depth study of the art. Professor Mosquea trained at one of the affiliate locations of the world-renowned Renzo Gracie Academy and was bestowed his Black belt by Professor Jamie Cruz (4th degree black belt). These astute honors have been approved personally by the legendary Renzo Gracie.7 Professor Mosquea is both a practitioner and seasoned competitor, with over a decade of expert-level competitions under his belt. Notable gold medals include: IBJJF Pan Ams: (Gi & No-gi Division) Naga Worlds (Gi & No-Gi Division) Gracie Invitationals Grapplers Quest IBJJF New York Open And countless other tournaments. With over 15 years of experience in law enforcement and hundreds of global government/military missions completed, Professor Mosquea is expertly trained in close-quarter combat, and self-defense. It is now his honor and pleasure to bring 9 years of teaching and countless years of training experience to Hibiscus Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Mosquea has one goal, volunteer his time at Hibiscus Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to pay forward everything this beautiful art has given him. From self-defense, to weightloss, and confidence building.
