CCMA's Kids No-Gi Jiu Jitsu Competition
Complete Control Martial Arts is excited to announce its first ever Inter-Club Kids Competition.
The event will prioritise acquisition of competition experience, with the intention being to get each competitor as many matches as possible based on their age, weight and skill level independent of pre-defined divisions.
Long term, the purpose of this and future events will be to provide an entry point to competition for newcomers, more regular opportunity for ongoing development of existing competitors and ultimately help grow the sport of Kids No-Gi Jiu Jitsu in South Australia by offering such opportunities on a regular basis.
Rules
All matches will be contested under the Grappling Industries ruleset - http://grapplingindustries.com/rules/
These rules will be implemented at the discretion of referees with previous experience officiating Kids No-Gi Jiu Jitsu. Their judgement within a match will be considered final and there will be no review process with or without video footage.
Please Note - Athlete safety is the number one priority of officials and, as such, they will have the ability to call a submission on an athletes behalf if they consider the situation to be one which may lead too injury (e.g. fully extended arm bar, figure four control with hand behind back, etc).
Matchups
Competitors will be matched up with peers who are;
- Within 1 year, above or below, of themselves.
- Within 1 weight class, above or below, of the themselves.
- Within 1 belt rank, above or below, of the themselves.
In the event of a competitor having insufficient matchups in accordance with the above criteria, matchups that fall outside of these criteria will be investigated and considered on a case by case basis.
Registrations will close on the Sunday preceding the competition at 11:59pm. The matchups and associated schedule for the event will be posted on the Wednesday the week of the competition.
We will make every attempt to ensure the event runs as scheduled, but changes may still occur on the day. Parents are encouraged to remain vigilant of Smoothcomp's "Upcoming Match" feature and endeavour to arrive at least 30 minutes before their child's first scheduled match.
Weigh-Ins
Children will need to weigh in prior to their first match of the day. A "common sense" allowance will be applied in the event that a child falls marginally outside of their reported weight class. We encourage parents to take a conservative approach when reporting their child's weight class, opting for the heavier weight-class if they are on the border of two classifications.
Medals
All competitors will receive a medal when they have completed each of their scheduled matches. These medals are participation based, and are not indicative of placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc).
