Submission Grappling Nationals (October 19)

INTRODUCTION

Stealth Grappling welcomes you to our biggest tournament of the year! On October 19th, we'll be crowning the National Champions of Submission Grappling. Come prove yourself as one of the best submission artists in the country.

Event Date: Saturday 19th October
Location: Te Atatu Peninsula Community Centre, 595 Te Atatu Road
Parking: Large carpark around the back of the building and plenty of street parking
Doors open: 9am
Weigh-in time: Open from 9am (see the 'Weigh-in' tab for more details)
Rules briefing: 9.45am
Matches start: 10am
Spectator fee: $20 per adult ($10 for parents/coaches), $5 per child aged 5-12 (under 5s are free)

PAY ONE PRICE FOR UP TO 4 DIVISIONS

Kids & Youths: Pay 1 price for 2 divisions

Adults: Pay 1 price for 4 divisions

Early registrations - $85

Normal registrations - $105

Late registrations - $125

Divisions will be visible the entire time so you know who's signed up ahead of time, and brackets will be released 2 days prior to the event.

Any requests for extra-late registrations will incur an additional $30 fee, to account for the manual work we have to do - save us the hassle and yourself the money, and don't leave it to the last minute!

Submission Focus:

Our submission-based circuit prioritizes the essence of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — mastering the art of submitting opponents through technique and skill. This format fosters an environment where competitors are encouraged to pursue submissions, leading to more dynamic and engaging matches.

Round Robin:

Unlike single elimination formats, our round robin bracketing system provides competitors with multiple match opportunities within their division. We believe in maximizing the benefits of every competition, ensuring that each participant leaves with a wealth of experience.

Engagement:

Our submission-based format keeps competitors and spectators engaged throughout every match, as the focus remains on the pursuit of submissions. Every match is filled with potential highlight reel moments, making Stealth Grappling events must-watch experiences for grappling enthusiasts.

PRIZEGIVING

Prizegiving will be held as soon as the division ends - if you place 1st, 2nd or 3rd, please go straight to the podium to receive your medal.Gi divisions will be run first, then no-gi - If you're competing in both divisions and you medal in your gi division, please go straight to the podium to receive your medal, before changing into your no-gi gear. 

MEDALS

Athletes who place 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their divisions will receive high quality gold, silver and bronze medals, in our fully spec'd 100mm design we reserve just for Nationals.

CASH PRIZES

Thanks to our sponsors RocBuild and Supreme Plumbing, we'll be awarding cash prizes to the winners of the no-gi absolute divisions (minimum 6 athletes per division required):

Beginner - $150
Intermediate - $250
Advanced - $500

If there are 12 or more athletes in the division, we'll double the prize money!

TEAM TROPHY

We'll be awarding the Team Trophy to the academy with the highest number of points at the end of the day.

If you've got a big team competing on the day, try to get everyone to stick around until the end - it could be your gym!

FREE ENTRY OR APPAREL SET FOR SETUP HELPERS

We're always looking for people to help us with setup & packdown (2-3 hours physical labour) in exchange for either free registration or a free set of Stealth apparel of your choice!

If you're interested, please let us know ASAP (ideally as soon as the event is announced) so that we can mark you down and approve your entry or secure your gear!

FREE RASH GUARD IF YOU'RE NEW TO STEALTH

If this will be your first time competing at Stealth, we're throwing in a free Stealth Grappling rash guard of your choice!

REFER A FRIEND PROGRAM

For every person you refer to sign up to a Stealth Grappling competition that hasn’t competed with us before, we’ll provide you with a $50 coupon credit for use at any of our competitions! 

Just ask the athlete to add your full name as a registration note when they enter, then email us so that we can provide the coupon.

FREE COACH ENTRY

For gyms with at least 5 members signed up to a competition, we’ll provide a free spectator family pass (2 adults, 2 kids) for 1 nominated coach.

For gyms with at least 10 members signed up to a competition, we’ll provide a free spectator family pass for 2 nominated coaches.

MULTI-KID DISCOUNT

We understand competing isn't the cheapest, especially if you have more than one mouth to feed. We've got you covered - register one child to compete, and get half off for every additional child!

Please register them without paying, then email us at [email protected] so that we can organise the lower price - we won't be conducting DNA tests or bringing the mailman in for questioning, but if the last names are different then we may ask for some form of proof. Don't miss this chance to give all your kids a shot at greatness. Let's get them on the mats!

KIDS PRIZES

We'll be selecting 1 division at random, and the winner will be awarded a family pass to Rainbows End (up to $250 value).

NEED TO MAKE A CHANGE?

If you wish to edit your registration (change skill or weight class), you can do this any time up until registrations close, by going into your Smoothcomp account, finding the registration, and clicking 'Edit'.

WHAT IF I GET INJURED?

If you get injured before registrations close, you can process a full refund yourself at any time, by cancelling your entry from your Smoothcomp account. So don't worry about paying for your entry and then getting stuck out of pocket - we've got you covered.

If you are injured between registrations closing and the start of the tournament, you are entitled to a full credit for use at any of our future competitions - please email us at [email protected] to arrange this.

WHAT IF I'M ALONE IN A DIVISION?

If you're still alone when registrations close, we'll attempt to find a suitable division by merging you up one category in either age or weight.

If we still cannot find you a division or you're unhappy with a merge, then we'll process a full refund. So don't worry about paying for your entry and then getting stuck out of pocket - you'll either get matches or your money back.

STAY IN THE LOOP

We send out emails on the Wednesday and Thursday prior to the competition containing important information regarding the groupings and brackets, and provide the opportunity to request/question any changes made to your division. If you haven't received them, please check your spam folder and approve us as a sender.
