Can I register for the Open division if I am competing in a lower division (Beginner/Intermediate)?

• Yes, absolutely. We encourage everyone, who feels comfortable, to compete in the Open division. The teams that win the tournament will likely have competitors in nearly every Open division weight class.

Can a White belt register in the Intermediate division?

• Yes. Especially if you are a more experienced white belt who does well in competition, then we definitely recommend moving up with the better competitors.

Can I register for more than one weight class?

• No. Unfortunately this would cause problems as you would likely have to compete in more than one match at the same time. 

How do you handle gender identity?

• We understand that gender identity verses biological birth is a truly challenging issue for many and our hearts go out to those who have to deal with these complexities every day.  We welcome all to attend and compete in our tournaments. As far as defining men or women for competition, however, we use a person's biological birth when determining eligibility.

Can I make changes to my division or add a division after I have finished registering?

• Yes. Your registration can be changed, or added to, at anytime up until registration closes, usually the Tuesday before the event. Changes can be made by logging into your account on SmoothComp.

Can I cancel my registration?

• Yes. We offer a cancelation guarantee to all competitors who register early and need to withdraw. This means that if you need to cancel your event registration for any reason you may receive a full refund up to ONE WEEK prior to the event. After this deadline, there will be no refunds issued. Refunds can be obtained by logging into your account on SmoothComp and cancelling your event registration. 

Can I cancel my registration for medical reasons the week of the tournament? 

• Yes. With a doctors confirmation you can request a medical cancelation up to 24 hours before the tournament begins. If approved a full coupon credit towards a future tournament will be given. Contact us through the event email to make the request.
